What an interesting time this is! And just because we have graying hair and balding heads doesn't mean we can't keep up with this fast-moving world. I for one, love the new technology and most of what it brings to us and am embracing it.

Another one over and done with
Made it through another Christmas, what I call a non-event! Being thoroughly non-religious and fed up with the commercialization of the entire affair, it's just easier for me to play it down and keep things low key and close to home. Without kids around, the whole essence of the season is lost to me so I make it a time for good food and friends.
And so that's what we did.
Susan and Dan and Taschia came over for dinner and of course, it was a non-traditional affair. Although we did have crackers - or as the Yanks call them "poppers." And they were the highlight of the affair with Dan decking himself out with multiple hats and toys from inside! The dinner was delicious too, with a ham, roasted asparagus with goat cheese and bacon, creamed spinach, a waldorf salad (which for some reason just sounded good) potatoes anna and nice crispy rolls. And then - ta da - Creme Brûlée - I will have to practise the blow torch part but they were delicious and there are even three left!
Now that I am on the mend, it's time to start making plans for a vacation. I don't think I am strong enough yet to do the trip to Nicaragua, but we could do something shorter and easier - like Belize for 10 days or so. I'll start looking at flights and options. It's time to get out of here for a while. Although it's sunny right now, the light is thin and insipid, not enough to get the juices flowing at all. I'd like to go back to Tobacco Cay and go snorkeling off the beach and maybe up to Clarissa Falls and float in the river again, feeling the little fish nibbling on my legs.
So now the journey continues, again in a bit of a different direction but still...
